Colour art Thou?

We have our colour appointment this coming Tuesday... eeek! What colours to pick in the kitchen? Bathroom? The roof? The bricks!?

We'll be heading to Simonds Gallery on Saturday for some inspiration. We did attend a tour a few weeks ago but I regret not taking home many samples...this time we'll be better prepared.

For now, I'll be trolling the Internet for ideas!

How's the land looking?

We can finally make out our block!

The House

After a few weeks of visiting display homes we've fallen in love with The Luxor built by Simonds.

We met with our sales Rep a few times we've decided to build with them..They've given us a good deal on discounting the house, fix site costs and included a promo pack which allows us to choose $30,000 worth of add-ons/upgrades for $10,000. We're stoked to have found a house which ticks all the boxes and is within our budget :-)

Here's the plan, however we've added an extra alfresco and extra lounge to be slotted between the garage/kitchen + master bed/2nd bed.

The house will fit snugly on the block giving around 2 meters on one side (at the houses widest point).

Our block of land faces east, which was really important to me as we'd like to gain some passive solar design without having to spend too much dosh on upgrades.  So as a result we've flipped the house over but kept the garage and main bed in the same position, the added alfresco will face north and we're hoping to reduce the sizes of the west facing windows in bedrooms 3 and 4.

We've also flipped the laundry and WC (so the WC and bathroom are next door to each other) and we've included an upgrade en suite (basically gives us a bigger shower and an enclosed toilet.

From the living room, we will have a good length of 9 meters to the back fence and around 3 meters from bedrooms 3 and 4 (big enough size for a dog!) We've got some big plans for the backyard! We can't wait for the house to get built and we're in!

For the facade, we've chosen the Kew.
We've got some great ideas on jazzing it up (helps having a partner in the trade business!!)
For now, we'll need to decide on the bricks!

We've got some land!

Stage 1B Woodlands Edge

We've bought a block of land in the newly constructed Woodlands Edge Estate. Its around 45km from Melbourne city and is located within a small township called Wallan Wallan.

The Estate went on sale in April last year, and will be titled in April this year! We really hope the titles come through on time :-)

We really like Wallan; the town is compact and contains everything we'll need (err..bottle shop and supermarket!) and the commute to the big smoke won't be so bad. There doesn't seem to be as many bogans in Wallan than in Craigieburn, and the fact that the township is located within a regional shire we get an extra $6500 to put towards the house (thanks Julia!)

Now, partner and I are city slickers, and this move is not only scary and exciting, it'll be a little challenging adjusting to small town fever and not being able to jump in a cab 10mins later you're at your favourite bar. Having said that, we are getting old and we need to grow up and look towards the future and we're really excited to make our home in Wallan.
